KUALA LUMPUR (March 26): In the latest salvo in the war of words between members of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) over the RM1.18 billion Ijok land sale, the national ruling coalition’s strategic communication department deputy director Eric See-To has said the Selangor Menteri Besar's Office is again trying to wash its hands off the affair.

“Do you really expect people to forget that for almost a month, various personalities from the Selangor government including the Selangor MB's officer telling us it was a win-win solution, that they have ‘helped’ the settlers end their 20-year wait and even detailed the RM1.18 billion deal.

“Now that seven persons have been remanded and RM87 million in bank accounts have been seized along with the shocking news that at least RM262 million out of the RM1.18 billion was paid to third-party consultants, the Selangor people are now told that the state government had nothing to do with the RM1.18 billion deal,” See-To said in a statement that was reported by the newsportal Malaysiakini.

“Official court documents say the RM1.18 billion sale of 2,200 acres of land had, and I quote, ‘the full knowledge, support and sanction of the Selangor state government’, including how the money is divided.

“The court documents also said these are contained in the Settlement Agreement, the Supplemental Settlement Agreement and the Consent Judgment,” the newsportal reported him as saying.

See-To called on the Selangor government to reveal the documents “to allow the rakyat to judge for themselves”.

Yesterday, three Selangor PH representatives said the state government did not sell off its land as alleged by the BN.

PKR’s Subang MP R Sivarasa, Parti Amanah Negara’s Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad and former Kuala Selangor MP Dzulkefly Ahmad told See-To that the land originally belonged to settlers, but was privatised by the previous BN state government.

“The fact of the matter is that the land that was sold for RM 1.18 was not Selangor government land but was private land. His question is a false question,” the three said in a joint statement, the MalayMail Online reported yesterday.
