KOTA KINABALU (April 19): The controversial Tanjung Aru Eco Development here might be getting a new Chinese investor, reported the Malay Mail today.

The news portal quoted Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (pictured), who said he had received a courtesy call from CRCC International Investment Group real estate director Frank Y. F. Feng, who  had expressed his interest in investing in the multi-billion beachside project.

The project has been mooted under the Barisan Nasional government since 2013. The mixed development was to comprise beachfront resorts, a golf course and residential components.

However, the project did not kick off as it has received great public objection, stemming from fear of losing public spaces and also concerns on environmental preservation.
