Penang aims to be first state to kickstart Covid-19 compliance accreditation programme

GEORGE TOWN (June 12): Penang aims to be the first state in Malaysia to kickstart the Covid-19 Compliance Accreditation Programme for tourism industry players in complying with the required standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the pandemic.

In a statement today, Penang Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH) chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said that the accreditation programme is aimed at boosting compliance of the SOPs in line with the state’s efforts to educate the importance of preventive and sanitisation routines in controlling spread of the coronavirus.

He said that PETACH would be working with the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP), Penang Health Department and Penang Global Tourism (PGT) to ensure tourism operators meet and adhere to strict hygiene and safety standards.
