KUALA LUMPUR: The operator of China’s second-largest budget hotel chain 7 Days Group Holdings Ltd plans to expand its portfolio in the country by at least fourfold within five years due to robust demand, the Shanghai Daily reported, quoting 7 Days chief executive officer Alex Zheng.

According to the news report,  New York-listed 7 Days which is based in Guangzhou already owns 364 hotels in more than 50 cities across China, and intends to grow its hospitality network to between 1,500 and 1800 entities.

7 Days had recently unveiled a campaign which will offer attractive room rates at its 26 hotels in Shanghai beginning April 26. The campaign will allow guests to decide whether they would like to pay for room items including dental kits, slippers, and bottled water.

The initiative will be extended to all the company's hotels nationwide by the end of May this year.
