KUALA LUMPUR: Cathay Pacific unveiled its new lounge at Hong Kong International Airport on Thursday, Oct 14. The lounge is designed by by Foster + Partners, an international architecture, planning and design firm.

"This is the first of a series of lounges that we have designed at Hong Kong International Airport for Cathay Pacific, each of which has its own ambience and set of facilities,” said David Nelson, senior partner and joint head of design at Foster + Partners.

The lounge, for first- and business-class passengers, has several zones such as the IT Zone and Relaxing Zone to cater to passengers needs. The material palette includes the use of marble, leather upholstery and bamboo, and is designed to allow plenty of daylight in with airside views.

Foster + Partners also designed the furniture such as the Cathay Solus Chair, manufactured in Italy by Poltrona Frau. Its hourglass form rises from a circular base to create a private space for individual travellers.
