Chinese-themed shopping mall to be built in Bahrain

MANAMA (May 14): Bahrain and China signed an agreement on Sunday to build a Chinese-themed retail shopping mall that will host 100 Chinese companies and businesses, Xinhua news agency reported.

The shopping mall, dubbed Dragon City, has a total leasable area of approximately 32,000 sq m, and is expected to be completed by 2014.

Dragon City will be a large-scale trade platform offering product exhibitions and retail and wholesale functions.

It will be marketed and managed by Chinamex Middle East Investment and Trade Promotion Centre FZCO.

"This agreement comes as a concrete step that will promote cooperation between Bahrain and China and solidify bilateral economic and cultural exchange," said an official from Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the largest urban waterfront developments currently underway in Bahrain. — Bernama
