TAWAU (July 11): The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) will take over registration of contractors' licences from the Finance Ministry's Contractor Service Centre (PKK) from Sept 15.

From that date, the centre would be responsible for only certifying the contractors' Bumiputera status, Sabah CIDB chairman Othman Safar told reporters here on Wednesday.

He said the new "One registration, one classification, one payment" system, announced earlier by the Works Ministry, would reduce costs and bureaucracy.

Under the new system, briefings on which have been held throughout the state, registration data on contractors previously registered with centre would be transferred to CIDB, he added. — Bernama
