KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Endowment Foundation is building five 3-star hotels on its endowment land in Terengganu, Perak,Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said on Monday May 17 the hotels, which cost RM100 million each, were expected to be completed between next year and 2012.

"Upon completion, we will hand over the hotels to be managed by the respective state Islamic religious councils to provide an additional source of income, besides tithes," he said after witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the foundation and Amanah Raya Berhad here.

The memorandum is aimed at encouraging Muslims to donate to the foundation through Amanah Raya and provide solutions to Muslims who wish to donate their properties through endowment after their death.- Bernama
