KUALA LUMPUR: Superboom Projects Sdn Bhd, the developer of luxury condominium The Haven in Ipoh, Perak will be the first developer in the country to use a premium quality waterproof paint and waterproofing membrane for a condominium project.

Shell Bitumen Country Business Manager for Malaysia and Singapore, Brian Low said the use of the Shell Flintkote Colourflex, known as the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of exterior paint for a high-rise building is a first for Malaysia. Shell Bitumen is the distributing arm of the Shell Flintkote brand.

“This is a landmark deal for Shell Bitumen and we see it as a groundbreaking move for the Malaysian construction industry,” he said at a signing ceremony between the company and the developer on Thursday, Sept 23.  He added that Shell Flintkote paints offer high-performance protective coatings for exterior finishing and for waterproofing. The paint has only been introduced in Malaysia last year.

Superboom’s chief executive officer Peter Chan said the use of quality materials have been The Haven’s hallmark from the start.

“We want The Haven to be a statement for Perak and Malaysia,” he said, adding that the paint would save cost in the long run because of its lower maintenance cost.

The Haven is located next to the Banjaran Hot Springs Retreat as well as the Lost World of Tambun water theme park.

The three-block 26-storey condo project is touted to be the tallest and most luxurious condominium project in Perak when completed in 2012.
