KUALA LUMPUR: Lebar Daun Bhd’s construction arm is bidding for several government-related contracts adding to RM500 million located outside of Kuala Lumpur, in line with the government’s effort to implement projects via private finance initiatives (PFI).

Its chairman and managing director, Norazmi Mohamed Nurdin said that the projects involved institutional buildings as well as hospitals, and added that he expects results of the bids to be known by the year's end.

He said the group would be focusing on securing more construction jobs this year to increase its revenue and to build a stronger order book.

“To achieve this, the group will be more active in bidding for construction jobs both in the public and private sectors," he told reporters after the company's annual general meeting on Thursday, June 17.

Among the government-related PFI projects the company is now undertaking include the construction of the Selangor Syariah Court headquarters and nine other Syariah Lower Courts throughout the nine districts in Selangor.

"Three out of the nine lower courts are scheduled for completion by this fiscal year, while the rest is due for completion in 3Q 2011," he said.

Norazmi added that it is also currently undertaking roadworks in Meru, Klang, which began in 2009 and is expected to be completed by 2011.

Meanwhile, for its financial year ending Dec 31, 2010, Lebar Daun’s property development business is focused on several mixed development projects, including D'Kayangan in Seksyen 13, Shah Alam; Bukit Bandaraya in Seksyen U11, Shah Alam; and in Dato' Demang, Puchong.

D'Kayangan is a 165-acre leasehold township project comprising 13 phases. Norazmi said the high-end project with a gross domestic value (GDV) of RM1.6 billion would take another four years for completion.

Its other project, Bukit Bandaraya in Shah Alam is a 300-acre project comprising 17 phases with a GDV of RM1.2 billion, while Dato’ Demang in Puchong is a 36-acre commercial project comprising five phases with a GDV of RM120 million.
