Moderate haze in Penang

BUTTERWORTH: Several areas in Penang today experienced moderate haze, with visibility slashed to between four and six kilometres, according to the Meteorological Department.

A spokesman said the haze was due to the dry weather and absence of rain over the last few days.

He also said that the Air Pollution Index (API) as at 11 am in Seberang Jaya was 65, in Prai 55 and at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) 56.  

"The condition is moderate and not harmful," the spokesman said.

An API of between 51 and 100 is rated as good and without health implications. — Bernama
