KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB), together with Johor-based construction company Ekovest Bhd, are likely to be awarded a portion of the Klang Valley beautification project from the government.

In a filing with Bursa yesterday, MRCB announced that a joint venture between the two companies had received a letter of intent from the government to obtain services for the River of Life Project (ROLP), an entry point project (EPP) identified under the Greater Kuala Lumpur initiative.

The Edge previously reported that the MRCB Ekovest joint venture were likley to bag the job, valued at a potential RM8 billion.  

A RM15 billion rehabilitation and development plan for the Klang Valley river was announced by the government as part of the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).

Shares in Ekovest rose 10 sen to close at RM4.07 yesterday, inching closer to its 52-week high of RM4.18 which it hit on Feb 10. MRCB shares jumped four sen to close at RM 2.22.
