KUALA LUMPUR: A six-member delegation, including the top management of Renexus Group, Malaysia, is currently discussing with Pakistani authorities in Lahore to build low-cost houses, introduce Wimax technology and develop waste water treatment facilities.

Acting Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Dr Imtiaz A Kazi said the delegation will hold a meeting on March 1 and 2 with Pakistan's Provincial Secretaries of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Public Health Service (PHS), Information Technology (IT) and Local Government to negotiate housing, IT projects and water treatment.

Renexus is currently negotiating the construction of low-cost houses in eight districts in Punjab Province with the Secretary of HUD and PHS, said Wajiullah Kundi, Pakistan's Commercial Counsellor in Malaysia.

Under the proposed housing project, 20,000 low-cost units are to be built in each of the eight districts to overcome the shortage of five million houses.

Demand for low-cost houses in Punjab increased by 700,000 units a year, he said in a statement on March 1.

Renexus will also hold talks with Punjab's Secretary of IT to introduce Wimax technology that will help the government improve efficiency in healthcare, banking, education, e-commerce and communication sectors, he said in a statement on March 1.

Renexus will negotiate with the Local Government of Punjab to introduce cost-efficient Clean Compact Water Treatment Systems with low maintenance cost to solve the shortage of potable water, he said.

The delegation will also visit Expo Pakistan 2010 in Karachi during the two-day stay in Pakistan.

Renexus is a multi-disciplinary provider of small-and large-scale projects in Malaysia. It also oversees property development and construction, biotechnology, environmental solutions and IT. -- Bernama
