KUALA LUMPUR: Wyndham Hotel Group, the world's largest hotelier by hotel numbers, launched its top-tier Wyndham Grand Collection in China through a strategic partnership with Greater China Hospitality (HK) Ltd, in an effort to further strengthen its presence in the country, reported the Shanghai Daily and Xinhua on April 10.

Under the deal, the first batch of seven premier luxury Plaza Royale hotels managed by Greater China Hospitality, both under operation and in the pipeline, will be rebranded and operated under Wyndham Grand Collection to tap the country's fast-growing luxury hotel market.

Wyndham, which opened 65 hotels in China last year and now operates 207 hotels across the country under five brands -- Wyndham, Ramada, Howard Johnson, Days Inn and Super 8 -- expects to bring more of its brands to China over the coming years, said Eric A Danziger, president and CEO of Wyndham Hotel Group.

Globally, Wyndham operates more than 7,100 hotels under 11 brands.
