Lim said they were worried that the drastic increase in cement prices would have adverse effects on the construction industry.

It stressed that the cement industry is highly capital intensive and hence needs to have a reasonable return on its investments in order to be able to meet the expectations of all its stakeholders.

“We never say no to new markets but we do not venture into new markets just because we want to. We have to look at the resources and see what kind of value the new market can give us.”
