Dr Mahathir explained that Malaysia needed to first verify whether the haze in Malaysia was coming from Sarawak, as reportedly claimed by Indonesian Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar on Wednesday.
 

The cabinet has approved an allocation of RM1 billion for the implementation of the project in Sarawak and the project would use the industrialised building system (IBS) technology to speed up its completion.

The cloud seeding process would be done if the weather conditions and the clouds were favourable, with the focus to be given to Selangor and Johor which still recorded high API readings.

Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Deputy Minister Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis said  the authorities had undertaken large-scale enforcement against open burning incidents throughout the country as part of measures to address the haze, with exceptions made for cremations and barbecues.

“China understandably would like to encourage Hong Kong residents to be confident about Hong Kong and remain there.”

“The primary focus of the ministry is still on providing affordable homes for Malaysians… this is our commitment.”

Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad, however, said if such effort is proven unsuccessful, then the Government must think about the interests of developers and the reputation of the country’s property industry.
