China's Wen says inflation top priority, more tightening seen

SHANGHAI/BEIJING: Fighting inflation remains the top priority for the Chinese government and Beijing will maintain its current economic poicy, Premier Wen Jiabao said in comments published on Monday, July 11, reinforcing the case for further policy tightening.

Wen's comments followed official data last Saturday that showed annual inflation in June hit a three-year high of 6.4%.

South Korean govt to expand support for residents of irregular homes

SEOUL: The government announced Friday, July 8 it will expand the housing support programme for low-income families living in irregular homes to include those residing in homeless shelters, Yonhap news agency reported.

Another plan would make about 30,000 courier service workers eligible for industrial disaster and unemployment insurance, the government said.
