"Architects Malaysia" exhibition to celebrate local talents

KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with World Day of Architects 2010, the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) will be holding an exhibition titled "Architects Malaysia" to honour the contributions of local architects and the industry.

1,049 housing developers on ministry blacklist

PORT DICKSON: Some 1,049 problematic housing developers have been blacklisted by the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung said 3,782 board members had also been blacklisted.

He said the ministry would tighten conditions for housing developer licences to avoid projects from being abandoned.

Mutiara plans expansion with acquisition and joint venture with MK Land

KUALA LUMPUR: Mutiara Goodyear Development Bhd (Mutiara) is planning to develop a piece of land in Sepang, Selangor in a joint venture with Paramoden Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of MK Land Holdings Bhd.

Mutiara via its wholly owned subsidiary, Susuran Timur Sdn Bhd has entered into a Joint Development Agreement with Paramoden on Thursday, Sept 30.

Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor to dispose of industrial land in Pulau Indah

KUALA LUMPUR: Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd (KHSB) is disposing of 17 plots of industrial land in Selangor Halal Hub, Pulau Indah, Selangor for RM57.05 million.

KHSB, via its subsidiary Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd entered into a sales and purchase agreement with Batam Heights Sdn Bhd on September 30, 2010. The leasehold lands measure a total of 67.17 acres.

General Corp posts net profit of RM74.30m

KUALA LUMPUR: General Corporation Bhd posted a net profit of RM74.30 million for its second quarter (2Q) ended July 31, 2010, on the back of revenue of RM247.59 million

Comparatively, the company recorded a net profit of RM48.55 million and revenue of RM418.16 million a year ago.

RM102m allocated for Safe City Programme next year

PETALING JAYA: A sum of RM102 million will be allocated for 149 local authorities next year to reactivate and expand the Safe City Programme, which was introduced in 2004.

Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung said since 2004, only 39 of the 149 local authorities participated in the programme.
