Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that currently the state government through the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) and the local authorities (PBT) are focusing on obtaining an agreement with the remaining next of kin to allow the construction of the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL) project in the Klang Strait Muslim Cemetery area to continue as planned.
He said the work on this system will start in May to enable the installation of the track from Dungun to Kota Bharu, Kelantan to be implemented by the end of December this year.
Mida emphasised that the ECRL is replete with opportunities for local companies, and it would be a huge loss if these were to go untapped.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook also reported 64% construction progress of the line as at March 2024 with the line traversing four states: Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Selangor.

Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Darwis Abdul Razak attributed the achievement to the innovative CCPG-500A track-laying machine, marking a pioneering advancement in the nation’s rail sector.
The project had achieved an overall progress of 62.
It added that the SDG Sukuk Framework has been assigned a “Gold” Impact Assessment by MARC Ratings Bhd.
“The ECRL is poised to be a game changer for Malaysia, linking us more closely to the Pan-Asia railway network and enhancing our connectivity with Asean and Eurasia regions.
