MBPJ closes Taman Megah market for cleaning and disinfection

PETALING JAYA (April 26): The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has temporarily closed the Taman Megah SS24 Market today to the public so that the premises can be cleaned and disinfected, The Star reported.

MBPJ corporate communications assistant director Ahmad Iskandar Mohamed Mukhtar told the daily that “the market was closed to the public as it needed to be cleaned and disinfected.

Meanwhile, Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said in a Facebook posting that her office had received a report about a vegetable trader in the market who had tested positive for Covid-19.

“The rest of the market vendors there have also been advised to have themselves tested for Covid-19 at the hospital.

“My office is yet to receive any further information as this matter is currently under the purview of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and any further directives that may be necessary will be issued by the MoH,” Jamaliah explained.

“Currently, the family and persons close to the patient are being interviewed and may be sent to be tested at the hospital if needed.

“Regular customers of Pasar Pagi Taman Megah are advised to test themselves for Covid-19 at the hospital as well, especially those who have displayed symptoms such as feeling feverish, cough, flu-like-symptoms, etc,” she added.
