LANGKAWI: Archipelago Hotels and Resorts Sdn Bhd (AHRSB), a new niche player in the high-end luxury hotel and resorts market, has been appointed to manage the iconic luxury resort The Datai Langkawi, effective Thursday, July 28.

AHRSB managing director Franz A Zeller is very positive on the new management contract. "It is with great pleasure that our company assumes the management of such a highly acclaimed international resort as The Datai Langkawi," he said in a statement on Thursday.

"We look forward to enhancing The Datai's reputation further by creating memorable experiences for our guests. We are excited to grow our company through the management of luxury hotels and resorts around the world."

A recent entrant to the luxury hospitality business, AHRSB was established by Malaysian-based Peremba Group of Companies with the goal to provide hotel management and consultation services.

AHRSB operates The Club Saujana Resort, a member of Leading Hotels of the World. It also manages the five star 210 room The Saujana Hotel in Selangor as well as Carcosa Seri Negara in Kuala Lumpur, the award-winning boutique heritage mansion.

Situated at the northwest tip of Langkawi island, Datai Langkawi offers 54 deluxe rooms, 40 villas and 14 suites. Attractions within the resort includes a private beach, indoors and alfresco dining, two swimming pools and tennis courts, a health club, a library, duty free boutique, an award-winning spa, and an 18-hole championship Datai Bay Golf Course. The resort also provides baby sitting services as well as mountain biking and water sports facilities.
