KUALA LUMPUR: Encorp Bhd's flagship development Encorp Strand was awarded the Highly Commended Award in the Mixed-Used Development category for Malaysia of the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2011.

"We are honoured to receive this award and are naturally very pleased, as it represents the hard work and commitment that has gone into this flagship development of ours. We are also proud to stand among the best in Asia Pacific with an award-winning project and represent excellence in property development in Malaysia," said Datuk Effendi Norwawi, its executive chairman and group chief executive officer.

The judging panel, consisting of more than 60 professionals, was chaired by Lord Bates of Langbaurgh. This year's judges included Google UK account manager James Bacon; National Federation of Property Professionals group chief executive Peter Bolton King; David Dalby of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); and Mike McNamara of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

Effendi received the award on behalf of the company at the award ceremony in Shanghai, China on Tuesday, May 31.

The RM1.3 billion Encorp Strand comprises the fully completed and sold Business Suites, the iconic Red Carpet Boulevard, Garden Offices, The Mall and Residences.

The development, which is located in Kota Damansara, was the winner of the the inaugural The Edge-PEPS Value Creation Award in 2010, an accolade for properties with the greatest value creation in terms of capital appreciation as well as sustaining value.

The Asia Pacific Property Awards, held in association with Bloomberg Television, aims to recognise the best real estate professionals across the globe.
