HONG KONG: Hotel ICON, an upscale hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui East, announced its soft opening here on Tuesday, June 14.

The hotel, which has 262 guest rooms ranging in size from 36 sq m to 80 sq m, showcases work from the city's celebrated designers and visionaries, including architect Rocco Yim, fashion doyenne Vivienne Tam, graphic designer Tommy Li, architect designers Conran & Partners and French botanist/artist Patrick Blanc.

The Hotel ICON guestrooms comprise have standard features that include a complimentary mini-bar, iPhone/iPod docking station, complimentary wired and Wi-Fi internet connections and ultra-slim 40" Ultra HiDef LED TVs.

The hotel's Angsana Spa lays claim to be "a tranquil oasis devoted to pampering", whilst the harbour-facing outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre allows guests to exercise while enjoying a view of the city.

The Hotel ICON's grand Silverbox ballroom has a capacity of 480, and the three in-house restaurants — Above & Beyond, The Market and GREEN — promise gastropnomic delights for visitors.

"Hotel ICON is the first of its kind in Asia," said general manager Richard Hatter. "We are proud of the hotel and its link to local culture, which can be seen through various features of the hotel. Our aim is to further develop excellence in the hospitality industry and to celebrate local and international cuisine and creative design."
