HUANCAVELICA: Peru's cable car project in the southern Huancavelica region will cost 125 million soles (US$46.2 million),  its regional president, Maciste Diaz Abad said.

He said the project will benefit some 70,000 people.

The 5.1km-long cable car in Huancavelica will have a transport capacity of up to 400 passengers per hour, while the ride will be 15 minutes long from end-to-end.

Diaz said this project will be undertaken within the framework of the central government’s cable car programme aimed at promoting territorial integration and tourism in the country. Some of the first regions to benefit from this programme are Huancavelica, Apurimac, Pasco, San Martin and Ancash, Diaz Abad said. - Bernama
