Tan Sri Lim Hock San

PETALING JAYA (Nov 13): LBS Bina Group Bhd managing director Tan Sri Lim Hock San won the World Chinese Economic Summit (WCES) Lifetime Achievement Award for enhancing relations with China during a presentation at the 7th World Chinese Economic Summit in the UK. The summit took place from Nov 10 to 12.

“It is a great pleasure that my commitments to promote Malaysia to China, especially in Guangdong province, is recognised by the well-established Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli),” said Lim.

“My ultimate goal is to make Malaysia well-recognised internationally as a diverse and multicultural country.”

The WCES Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to individuals who have made a significant and fundamental impact in their respective fields of work through commitment, dedication and the provision of essential contributions over a sustained period of years to the regional and global community.

One of his most recent contributions to enhancing Malaysia-China ties includes LBS Bina Group undertaking a project to transform and improve the Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC), China's first permanent racing circuit.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between LBS Bina Group and Zhuhai Jiuzhou Group Holdings Ltd was signed in Melaka on Sept 19 for the upgrading of the existing racing circuit.

“Believing that culture is the key to understanding a country and strengthening the bond between the two governments, Guangdong is used to form a closer connection where a cultural museum, one-stop centre and Made-in-Malaysia Excellence (Mime) exhibition hall will be established within the ZIC,” he added.

The ZIC plan includes building the Zhuhai National High-Tech Zone into a comprehensive service centre, introducing and integrating motorsports into modern life, creating a regional tourism centre with emphasis on Zhuhai’s Northern District and establishing a multi-cultural centre to encourage cultural exchanges and the Mime exhibition hall.

“The cultural museum will showcase the heritage and culture of Melaka, and the Mime exhibit will promote products and services from Malaysia to ultimately strengthen Malaysia’s tourism industry as well as attract international companies to invest in Malaysia,” he said.

Lim also holds high-level positions in Malaysia and China such as president of Malaysia-Guangdong Chamber of Investment Promotion, Guangdong Province's president of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, and vice-president of Fujian Overseas Exchanges Association Fifth Council. He is also a Zhuhai Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference committee member.
