The pilot project for Komtar by PDC Setia Urus, which manages the building, is part of a larger effort to get Penang ready for the green practice that will be enforced statewide on June 1.

Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh said the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) had taken over the management of the complex when the contract with a third party expired last year.

Security guards were stationed at the security booth for the first two years after the residents moved in. However, their services were stopped after that and since then, there had been break-ins and car thefts at the apartments.

The 18-month contract covers the entire infrastructure works for Berjaya Land Development’s bungalow project in Penang named Kensington Gardens. 

“The rising popularity [in Kota Kinabalu] is matched by a steady increase in value, whereby the total value of transactions for two and three-storey terraced houses increased by approximately 62% in 3Q2015 compared with the preceding year,” says Knight Frank Malaysia’s (Sabah branch) Welton Chin.

These new launches will be within its existing township developments of Bandar Darulaman in Jitra, Darulaman Perdana in Sungai Petani and Darulaman Utama in Kuala Ketil, which are all located in Kedah.

Responding to the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday that the sale of houses priced under RM300,000 in new developments must be limited to first-time house buyers only, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said it helped little if the buyers still could not secure housing loans.

Developers will have to increase the prices of some homes to more than RM300,000 so that investors can purchase them.
