The Kapar land acquisition is in line with Sime Darby Property’s SHIFT25 strategy, which aims to transform the company from a pure play property developer into a real estate company by broadening and diversifying its income streams.
The KVDT2 project involves the replacement of existing 25-year-old railway tracks, an electrification system and an upgrade and maintenance of the facilities involving two railway tracks from Salak South to Seremban, and from Simpang Port Klang to Port Klang.
In a filing on Wednesday (May 3), the group said Astino (Malaysia) Colour Steel Sheets Sdn Bhd had entered into a sale and purchase agreement with Bukit Saujana Jaya Sdn Bhd to acquire a freehold land known as Lot 12 held under HS (D) 165115, PT No 84452, Mukim Kapar, Klang.
The 650,000 sq ft shopping mall will comprise four floors of retail space, a landscaped park, a 10,000 sq ft event space, an outdoor dining terrace, and a kids play area.
As for the retail component, it will have about 70,000 sq ft of net lettable area over two levels, while the two levels of suite units will have about 20,000 sq ft of net lettable area.
It said the funding issue has been resolved, and construction work was to have resumed in mid-February.
“This effort [to reduce the price] is in line with the renewed drive to improve governance, to reduce the procurement cost to achieve savings that can be shared for the benefit of the rakyat.
