The new site is located within the integrated Sunway Velocity TWO development, building on the momentum from their first joint effort at Sunway Putra, which reached full occupancy within a month.
In an exchange filing, YNH Property said its wholly owned units Kar Sin Bhd and YNH Hospitality Sdn Bhd, together with RHB Trustees Bhd, the trustee of Sunway REIT, have mutually agreed to extend the conditional period of their sale and purchase agreement (SPA) signed on Jan 20, 2025.
Sunway REIT said the sale is part of Sunway REIT’s strategy to recycle assets.
Sunway Square Mall will mainly comprise leisure and entertainment offerings with key tenants such as Village Grocer, BUMP Bouldering, TGV Cinemas, The Library by BookXcess, COUNT, KKV, Tutu Toe Dance Academy and GoFit.
Castaldi will also oversee Sunway Travel, which offers a wide range of services including corporate travel management, leisure travel packages, and tailored experiences.
The transit-oriented project, adjacent to the Bukit Chargar station under the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS), involves the development of four residential and commercial towers, Sunway said in an exchange filing.
This marks the highest DPU for Sunway REIT since it was listed on the Main Market in July 2010.
The property is 100% leased to supermarket chain operator AEON Co (M) Bhd (KL:AEON), whose lease will last another 13 years until Dec 3, 2037.
