When Sri Damansara was established, it provided an alternative “Damansara” address for homebuyers, recalls Metro Homes Sdn Bhd’s director See Kok Loong. “The area was popular as the houses there were newer than in the old Damansara areas of Damansara Utama and Damansara Jaya,” he tells City & Country.
See feels that somehow, the general design of the Sri Damansara homes, coupled with the tolled Damansara-Puchong highway, have curtailed the appreciation of property values there. “While residential prices have remained stable, there has not been much appreciation because of the overall township design. Houses here are a bit small and traditional in design with limited layouts and no gated communities. Desa Park City or Mutiara Damansara in the vicinity are livelier with more modern designs,” he says, adding that Bandar Sri Damansara is not appealing because it lacks new launches.
However, this may soon change as L&G is planning to inject new elements into the township. “L&G should rebrand the area and introduce a new lifestyle here with its upcoming condo development on a massive 43-acre tract,” See says.
