EPF Account 2 recently became a hot topic after Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said last month that the government is considering using EPF savings as collateral for emergency loans, after the opposition repeatedly called for more EPF withdrawals to be allowed.

MBSB, in a statement on Thursday (April 6), said its shariah-compliant facility Ihsan-i will be offered to EPF members who are between 40 and 55 years of age, with a minimum of RM3,000 in their Account 2 and EPF i-Account holders, beginning April 7, 2023.

"It offers a practical solution for EPF members who are facing temporary liquidity issues by providing cash flow through personal financing but with minimal impact on their retirement savings," the EPF said.

The latest filing came after the REIT suspended the trading of its units for an hour on Monday morning, from 9am to 10am.
