The Canvas Hotel执行董事Kelvin Taing坚信，一间好的酒店不应只单凭空间和设施来定义，也应该将其便利程度和是否具备宾至如归的氛围纳入考量。 所以，Taing策划The Canvas Hotel初期，就决定只采用本地艺术家的作品，作为酒店装饰的主调。 这间位于巴生Bandar Bukit Tinggi的精品酒店共有98间客房，强调的是房间的舒适度、便利和本地文化色彩。 “我们希望让访客感受到一间马来西亚家庭的感觉，所以酒店内的家具和装饰都委托了本地设计师负责。” 四位与Taing合作的主要本地设计师和艺术家，包括了得奖无数的画家Wong Chee Meng、家具品牌Nokta、灯饰设计师Stephanie Ng和居家装饰品品牌Nala Designs。 他说：“我们相信如果没有体验到当地文化，就不算真正到过一个地方旅游。所以我们与Wong合作创作20副具本地色彩的画作，为每间房增添属于马来西亚的韵味。” 另外，The Canvas Hotel也与Nokta的设计师们合作设计沙发、椅子和茶几等家具，并配上由Nala Design出品的抱枕，勾勒出马来西亚寻常家庭的面貌。 此外，Ng也为The Canvas Hotel量身设计新系列的灯饰，而这批灯饰系列也会在稍后投入市场。 瞄准市场空隙 尽管巴生并不是热门旅游景点，但Taing却认为这个地方的潜力无限，因为The Canvas Hotel位于全马最大的Aeon对面，占尽地利的优势。 “我们的酒店在巴生港口和城镇之间，而且全马最大的Aeon就在对街，加上来往吉隆坡国际机场的接驳巴士站，就在酒店正前方。” 他表示，当地只有四星级以上、每晚RM300的酒店，或者是每晚RM100以下的廉价店屋酒店，The Canvas Hotel正好介于两者之间。 “我们正好填补了市场的空隙，我们的目标客户是国内外游客，以及商业旅客。” 英文版原文已刊登于2018年10月12日的EdgeProp.
