KUALA LUMPUR: Bina Puri Holdings Bhd has bagged a RM281.5 million project from Brunei’s Housing Development Department to build 1,000 units of cluster houses in Brunei, confirming The Edge Financial Daily report on June 16.

The latest award will raise the group’s unbuilt order book to RM2.09 billion. So far this year, Bina Puri has secured new projects amounting to RM530 million.

“The management is confident of securing more projects for 2014,” Bina Puri group managing director Tan Sri Tee Hock Seng said in a statement yesterday.

The latest contract is the group’s fourth in Brunei.

The project, to be undertaken by its unit Bina Puri (B) Sdn Bhd, entails the design of a master plan, design and build of earthworks, infrastructure and the construction of the 1,000 affordable houses in Kampung Lugu National Housing Scheme within 24 months.

“Bina Puri’s involvement in Brunei started in October 2007 with its maiden project valued at RM33.6 million. It involved two contracts for earthworks and advance works at Sungai Liang Industrial Park, Kampong Lumut, District of Belait. The works were completed in August 2008,” said Tee.

“In 2011, we also completed a project to build 2,000 houses for the National Housing Scheme of Brunei. Recently, we completed another 520 units of houses for Skim Tanah Kurnia Rakyat Jati at Kampung Lugu,” he said.
