KUALA LUMPUR: Just a year after its maiden foray into Rawang, unlisted DA Land Sdn Bhd is taking on another project — a RM5 billion commercial development on a 51-acre (20.63ha) land parcel in the same area.

The company said in a statement yesterday that the mega project is set to transform Rawang and change the development landscape in the northern corridor.

The development, known as the TWO, is designed to be a three-in-one theme park resort, wholesale city and outlet mall.

The theme park will feature outdoor, semi-outdoor and indoor parks and gardens, with more developments in future phases to make it the largest theme park of its kind in the world, said the company.

DA Land chief executive officer Derek Chew said the TWO could be a wholesale regional hub for Asean as Malaysia is a strategic point in Asia for travellers.

Situated in Bandar Rawang, at the mid-point of the North-South Expressway, the TWO is convenient for local and international tourists travelling between the north and south of Peninsular Malaysia, he said.

“Tourists are the highest income generating patrons because they do not always have the time and usually cannot wait for a sale or alternative products. They spend because they do not know when they will return, if ever, and often do not want to lose the opportunity of buying what they like here,” Chew said.

DA Land’s maiden development, the 75-acre LakeClub ParkHome residential project in Rawang, consists of 222 units of 2- and 2½-storey terraced homes.

The entire development is expected to be completed in 2017 with a gross development value of RM500 million.
