Hello KittyPETALING JAYA (April 5): In conjunction with its 45th anniversary yesterday, Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo (KPH) will be giving away a special Hello Kitty original doll dressed in a bell staff’s uniform for Hello Kitty room guests from April 1 to June 30.

This is not the first time the hotel – located in Shinjuku at the heart of Tokyo – has featured the iconic Japanese cartoon character by Sanrio.

In 2014, KPH opened eight special Hello Kitty rooms to celebrate the fictional feline’s 40th birthday, themed “Kitty Town” and “Princess Kitty”.

The rooms also feature specially-designed Hello Kitty dolls, and their outfits are regularly changed to keep repeat customers entertained.

“In addition, guests will enjoy a variety of special accommodation plans elaborated with originally designed cakes, cocktails and drinks,” said KPH in a press release.

“Guests will also be given souvenirs which include Hello Kitty letters sets, pens, plastic bags, slippers and other goods to take with them as a reminder of their stay with us,” it added.

Meanwhile, KPH is also offering their overseas visitors and hotel guests an opportunity to experience the traditional Japanese tea ceremony at their tea ceremony room from April 18 onwards.

A fee of ¥2,000 (RM70) will be charged per guest to enjoy the 30-minute ceremony.

Another ongoing event in the hotel this month is a special exhibition entitled “Experienced Mt Fuji and Cherry Blossom Fair”, displaying various lacquerware, photographs and Japanese paper picture art.

Over half of the hotel’s 20 restaurants and lounges, including the Japanese, French and Italian, Chinese and Korean cuisine restaurants will also prepare special menus to celebrate the theme.
