KUALA LUMPUR (June 22): Global workspace provider Regus opened its first centre in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam’s capital, on June 15. The new centre is located in the PGGBM Centre, situated in the prime business location of the city.

“As the 106th country that Regus has established a presence, we see Brunei as a critical market for our customers and partners especially in the developing regional oil and gas sector," explained country manager of Regus Malaysia Vijayakumar Tangarasan.

"Brunei enjoys [a] symbiotic relationship with neighbouring Labuan and Kota Kinabalu, where the specialist talent supporting the oil and gas and exploration sector is based. Companies and enterprises in this area are looking for flexible workspace solutions to meet their project-based engagements,” he added.

As Bandar Seri Begawan houses many multinational and regional enterprises that are active in the region, there is a growth in demand for office facilities and infrastructure offering flexible workspace solutions to support project-based and satellite operations.

The new Regus centre can assist multinational companies (MNCs) in setting up offices in Bandar Seri Begawan and facilitating their potential expansion to other parts of the country and neighbouring countries. SMEs and MNCs based in the capital can also leverage on Regus’ global network of more than 2,300 business centres in 106 countries.

“We believe that there’s a serious untapped potential here, and that’s why we chose Bandar Seri Begawan as our inaugural business centre in Brunei." said CEO of Regus Asia Pacific John Wright. "As flexible working gains popularity in the Asia Pacific region, the launch of the new business centre here is a positive step forward in encouraging more firms to opt for flexible working.”

The PGGMB Centre is home to many local and international companies from the oil and gas, financial services, technology and airline industries. The centre also provides many amenities including hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and has easy access to public transport.

Founded in Brussels, Belgium, in 1989, Regus is based in Luxembourg and listed on the London Stock Exchange.
