脱离地球在外太空建筑新家园,这个理念听起来遥远,但实际上已有研究员深入探讨,为移居其他星球做准备。 太空建筑师与研究员Barbara Imhof表示,人类未来或许会到太空生活,但究竟脱离地球的生活会如何?在地球大气层外的建筑家园也意味着人们再也不能将地球与外太空之间划下清楚的界限。 她是在Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF 2019)的系列讲座中,分享她对于太空建筑的看法。 她的分享主题名为 “超越建筑:太空船与火星住所建筑设计”。在讲座开始之前,她先以吉隆坡望向国际太空站(ISS)的夜空视像掀开序幕。 “这个位于大气层外的国际太空站,面积如同一个足球场,其实距离并不远,距离大概如同从吉隆坡到新加坡一样。” 居住在外太空,另一个挑战是严峻的温差与生活环境,太空站面向太阳的一方温度高达121摄氏度,而背向太阳的另一方温度则为零下157摄氏度。由于温度差距甚大,所以透过利用先进的高科技建筑与设施才能打造人类宜居的环境。 为了研究外太空住所的设计,Imhoff与LIQUIFIER Systems Group (Austria) 选择在南极设立基地,模拟火星严峻的生活环境,借此研究与建造适合人类在火星居住的建筑。 在这项名为 “Eden ISS” 的计划中,研究团队模拟火星恶劣且极端的环境栽种食物。Imhoff解释,研究人员采用水耕种植法测试种植蔬果,因为这个方法无需土壤,只需要特别的容器与营养剂就可栽种。 “我们进行各种测试,种植了超过20种蔬果,包括番茄、小黄瓜以及韭菜。在九个月的实验期间,我们采收了多达270公斤的蔬果。” 此外,研究团队也研发可折叠收藏且方便运载的太空住所。这个移动式住所装置可让太空人在严峻环境中打开后立即使用,住所更可容纳两个太空员。 面积达50立方米的移动式住所内设有办公空间、卫生间、房间以及食物储藏与小厨房。 外太空住所建筑工作仍在积极进行中,Imhoff认为,若人类乐观且积极研究太空探索,未来10至15年,人类或许将可实现踏足火星的目标。 “也许在2050年前,人类就可以目睹第一个地球人登陆火星。” 英文版原文已于2019年7月12日的EdgeProp.
